About Shenehom:
Shenehom is managed by Shenehom Housing Association which was formed by members of the local community. We receive support from Richmond Upon Thames Churches Housing Tust (who developed and manage the property), Richmond and Barnes Mind, Borough of Richmond and Kingston and Richmond Health Authority.
Shenehom provides:
The main house provides accomodation for 11 people in individual bedrooms over two floors. The ground floor has a large dining kitchen, where daily meals are prepared and taken. The Holmes room provides recreational space for pool, darts, table tennis and a sessional art group. Further relaxing space is provided by a quiet room with access to the back garden and a TV lounge. There is a separate smoking room provided with easy chairs.
Each individual is allocated a key worker from the staff team of 8, who work closely with the local Community Mental Health Team. All residents have an agreed Care Plan and are usually part of the CPA process.
In addition to the main house Shenehom has a semi independent unit for two individuals. This can offer the oppurtunity for a more independent and self supportive lifestyle. The support of a project worker is available.
We aim to provide a supportive environment where each person can achieve the best possible quality of life, reflecting the varying needs and achievable goals of each individual. We offer all residents the opportunity to take an annual holiday with other trips and outings being a regular feature of activities.
What is the role of the client?
Everyone is encouraged to fully engage in all aspects of decision making towards the running of the home. A daily meeting of residents and staff is held (Mondat to Friday) to ensure the smooth running of the house. A weekly residents meeting is held, co-chaired by a resident, to discuss community issues and seek individual comments and ideas.
We encourage each individual to participate in as many activities outside the home as possible using local day and drop in centres. To that end, each resident spends at least one day a week engaged in activities in the community.
