VOLUNTEERING

What we do is vitally important: caring for people, providing a beautiful, safe and comfortable home for them to live in and supporting them in their future lives. We encourage our residents to retain their independence wherever possible and Shenehom is a vital, thriving part of the local community.

To work at Shenehom requires dedication, professionalism and a genuine desire to help people.

Commitment to Equal Opportunities : Shenehom housing Association is committed to ensuring equal opportunity for all applicants and in order to assist us in monitoring the effectiveness of our policy, we ask all applicants to complete an Equal Opportunities form.

Please note that we are only able to consider applications from candidates who are eligible to work in the UK. Before offering any position at Shenehom we require, amongst other formalities, satisfactory clearance from the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS).

In addition to a team of dedicated staff, our residents benefit enormously from passionate volunteers. The contribution of our volunteers adds another dimension to the running of Shenehom Housing Association. Volunteering can be an immensely rewarding experience. We provide full training for volunteers to ensure that they and our residents get the most from their contribution.

HOW MUCH TIME DO VOLUNTEERS DEDICATE TO WORKING AT SHENEHOM?
Volunteers can give different amounts of time, from a few hours per week, half a day, a day and in some cases several days per week. We offer flexibility and can build a worthwhile volunteering assignment around the time commitment that they can give to Shenehom. The one thing we ask of all volunteers is a regular commitment.

WHAT CAN VOLUNTEERS HELP WITH?
Volunteers support the work of staff, enabling them to provide an even higher standard of professional care. They can become ‘befrienders’, engage in social activities with residents such as playing board games or simply having a friendly chat over a cup of tea.
